Betty Usdan-Zwickler has explored many mediums in her almost 40-year career as an abstract artist--painting, textile design, stone and wood sculpting, printmaking, collage and photography. She considers her fiber creations ‘Painting with Fiber.’ Her passion for color, texture and textiles are evident in her mixed media collage and fiber artworks.
A patron recently stated, “...The depth of Betty’s life experiences is unmistakable in her art. I visited her website, www.fiber-artist.com, and was both delighted and moved. Each piece or series of pieces is visually distinctive, but no matter what medium she employs, there is a consistent richness of texture, vibrancy of color and fluidity of shape…a most prolific artist.”
Usdan-Zwickler holds a B.S. Degree from New York University, studied Textile Design at Fashion Institute of Technology, painting at Parsons School of Design and collage at the Art Students League. Also, she was an artist-in-residence at Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT. Born in New York, Betty relocated to Florida in 1975 and now divides her time between New York and Florida.
